My version of a Mortis and Pestle
I was inspired by your mortis and pestle and tried my hand at making my own. I was gifted a couple of Eucalyptus logs from a local country club (tracked them down via a posting I put on Craigslist). The logs had a lot of big cracks and more than a few insect holes but I was able to get a couple of good pieces to turn. I am fairly new to woodturning but I am having a GREAT time. I think the little burned in accent lines just take the piece to the next level.
Keep up the GREAT videos and inspiration.

Holiday ornaments
I just started turning a little over a month ago and have been motivated to get started with small projects and ready for the holidays. I have been working with wood from Home Depot and started with 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 Redwood stock. Today I tried some select pin 2 X 2 select Pine. I am only making it to 420 sanding, haven’t got to the 600 yet and started playing with CA glue finishes and am loving it.
Thank you for the inspiration Carl and I re-watch your old videos and patiently wait for each and every new release.

baby rattle 3
This is my 3rd attempt at a rattle. I like this method over trying to make it look like a one piece. everyone I have shown it too seems to like it. Now I have 2 to make within the next month!
