Got a suggestion for you to do

Thought this might be an interesting project to try. Unfortunately Im in North Dakota working in the oilfields and not at home with access to my shop or I’d try one.

Sassafras Heart Bowl

First of all I have only been turning since the end of November 2012. A friend of mine gave me two 6 foot logs of Sassafras heart, was cut down several years ago, all that was/is left is the heart and all of the sap wood had rotted away. This is the largest bowl I have ever made. It is finished right now with brushing lacquer cut 50/50 with lacquer thinner. I’m going to sand it down again and try to get a better finish on it. Please feel free to give me feedback.
Thanks,

Two more walnut magic wands

http://www.airquotewoodworker.com/2013/08/two-magic-wands.html

This is my third and fourth turning ever, and this time I started with the plan to make magic wands of a specific length and a specific look to them. You can read more details in the blog post (also linked from the description of the youtube video).

I am trying to publish new project videos every Monday or Tuesday (no, they won’t all be turning).
