Flashlight cover
I watched both of your videos and decided to give it a try. I decided to try a spiral because I saw a video on carving them and made a flame finial that came out OK. This is my second attempt at carving spirals. I think it came out pretty well.
I got the flashlight for free at Harbor Freight. They are always sending me coupons for them. and I used a Piece of Katalox wood That I had laying around. I have to say that the hand carving of the spirals took a couple of hours. In the end I think it looks good.

Child’s Chair From Scrap Pine Version 2
This version was ordered with arms for an older child. Simpler to put together than version 1 but not as satisfying to make.

Childs Chair From Scrap Pine
First attempt at a simple child’s chair which has proven to be a very popular design, especially with the child’s initial mounted on the back.

Fluted macrocarpa and wine bottle base
Hi Carl, enjoy your videos. I’ve looked around and haven’t found anything quite like it. I’m sure someone somewhere is doing something similar, perhaps not with turned wood though. The inspiration came from my nephew, who asked me to make a beer bottle chandelier (which I haven’t done yet !!). Adding glass opens up a whole new range of possibilities and I’m keen to explore this. Contact me for construction pictures and thoughts. Best regards, Joe, Auckland, New Zealand

Segmented bowl
Had this image in my head and wanted to give it a shot.
Not sure if oak was the best choice for the main body. I found it very hard to turn and with the wide annual rings in the bottom a real bear to get the bottom smooth.
Undoubtedly there is some technique I’m not familiar with but I’ve been turning for all of 5 weeks now so I’m certain there’s lots to learn.
Right now the tung oil seal coats are drying. In a few days I’ll try the Beall buffing system on it.

Cupcake box
Saw this on youtube by rickscroll47.
He did it a lot faster than I did.
But my better half liked it and that’s a win.
