Bowl and stand

My niece asked me to make a bowl on a stand so that when her husband gets home from work he could have a place to put them. This stand will be right beside the door so that he can just throw them in the bowl and hopefully not lose them. 😀
The bowl is made from Mango with some spalting on it. The legs are also Mango but from a different tree.

First cherry burl project

This is a five inch bowl made from a cherry burl that was grown in my back yard in West Ossipee, New Hampshire. I am a newbie at turning as an adult. My Grampa taught me when I was a kid (a loooong time ago!) I wish I could still talk shop with him at the kitchen table or down in his shop but watching you and some of the other turners on YouTube will have to suffice. Thank you for helping me pick up my grandfather’s craft!

Wood flowers

Inspired by you Carl, I made my wife some wooden tulip flowers for her birthday last January. I used Osage orange, purpleheart, walnut, poplar and fir. I also used copper grounding wire for the flower stamen pistil things. The vase is juniper with a purpleheart base.
Thanks for all the work you do putting up your videos, they are great to watch.

Tool Handle

lidded boxes from 180 year old church timber

My 180 year old Church has decided to do some renovations, and I was part of the crew doing the work. In removing some sub-floor and preparing to add a new level to our altar, we cut several pieces of the original southern yellow pine joists. After watching your video on making an apple wood box, I took them and decided to try my hand at lidded boxes and have the church sell them as memorabilia. I should be able to make about 25. This was my first attempt at lidded boxes and I really enjoyed it.
