Ironwood Hollow Form

hollow-3
The trick to hollow form turning is obtaining an even, consistent wall thickness. The easiest way to accomplish this is by using a pair of outside calipers designed for woodturning. The piece of ironwood used for this project has a couple of defects in it, which actually make it easier to check the thickness.

Royal Poinciana Lidded Box with Walnut Finial

Turned this on my Harbor Freight 8×12 – 1/3 HP Lathe. It was turned from what was left of a nice Royal Poinciana Log and the walnut finial was a last minute addition. I made sure I could pull off turning the finial before I drilled the hole in the lid.

Colors of the Rainbow

Just finished my first colored bowl. This piece of cherry was very rotten under the bark, but i left this “flaw” on purpose.

Learned a lot for the next time 😉

Thank you for taking the time to watch!
