Co worker ask if I could turn one. I said as long as she didn’t mind me using wood I had on hand. This was the result after re watching Carl’s video of his version.

Firewood scrap box bangle bowl challenge
My daughter brought me some “well seasoned firewood” from a roadside stand. Mostly beech and oak, and far too good for the stove.
The bangle was turned using a ½” bowl gouge before being parted off and re-mounted on a jam chuck with a piece of router mat for protection. Finish is shellac based friction polish.

Turning elk and deer antler
Hi Carl! We’ve messaged a time or two about turning antler. Here is a picture of a few of the things I’ve done. The bottle stoppers and toothpick holders are elk and the pens and pencil are deer. As you know, pictures don’t do justice to the color and texture of something like this. I enjoy working with antler, once you get it cut on the band saw it doesn’t smell so much, and really like the outcome. It’s very popular and sells like hotcakes at the VFW breakfast!
