The Giant Hourglass

I had a local glass company make the glass for me. The glass is 15″ tall and contains tiny glass beads rather than sand. The effect is like water cascading between the vials.
The ends are burr elm, and the rest is beech – all from sustainable sources.
Finish is clear lacquer, rather than my usual home cooked natural finishes, but this is made to be handled so I wanted something hard wearing. Swivels are 6mm threaded rod with one thistle knob epoxied, and the other having a captive nut epoxied.
Quite a bit of copy turning involved, but I think I pulled it off not too badly.
