slatted canister

An original canister was made of 8 alternating slats of walnut and maple on a segmented walnut base. It was turned inside and out on the lathe. The canister was then cut into rings on the bandsaw and sanded. The rings were then stacked diagonally and glued back into the original shape with spacers of small pieces of maple. The whole assembly was then turned again inside and out on the lathe and sanded. A tightly fitting lid was added.
