Live Oak Birdhouse

My first birdhouse made from live oak. The wood was hard as a rock and a real PITA to turn end grain. I have since cleaned up the seam.

Cutting Corners

I turned this pen from one of the corners that I cut off the cherry bowl blank that I made the Bowl from that I posted back in June. I have a box full of cut off corners from blanks. I just started making pens with the equipment that my wife gave me for fathers day. Now I have something I can use all the cut corners on.

Unknown Wood Spinning Top

A spinning top I turned today, I dont know what kind of wood it is but it has a yellow dust and is extremely hard, but I dry sanded it to 600 and then put a coat of salad bowl finish on it so if I sell it kids can play with it.

Caribbean Waves Spetraply Spinning Top

This is my first top I turned and it turned out great, the wood is Caribbean Waves Spectraply from Woodcraft, I really like the colors its 2 different shades of blue and a shade of white, I went through all my grits up to 600 with the Paste Wax and Mineral Oil mixture and came out great, also for future reference for people if you buy the wood it will somewhat stain your hands if you the Paste Wax and Mineral Oil mix, it made my hand look like I was a smurf LOL, and when turning it my arms got covered in dust and shaving so I really looked like a smurf LOL.
