Walnut box

Poplar Box

This is the first box I have ever made. I picked out solid white and solid green 1×2 and glued them in alternating order. I just glued the sides together because I have no way to miter them together. All in all I think it came out pretty good, seeing as how I’ve never made one before.

First Ornament

I turned this ornament out of scraps in the shop as a test. The ball is oak and the finial and top are Lignum vitae. I need some work on my finials. I will be turning more.

a skewed Skew

Carl, the lines (grooves) you see are made by me using either my 3/4″ Sorby or my 1.1/4″ sorby. The tool rest is nick free and the tools are as sharp as I can make them. Sometimes I can turn a piece of 1.1/4 sq x 8″ pine (practice) without the grooves. Your thoughts and what I am doing wrong would be appreciated. I have watched you, bobham5, Capt Eddie, and others and no one has ever mentioned “chatter” when cutting.

Thanks
Paul

Wood Mallet

This mallet was made a few months ago after viewing your video on the mallet you made.

It is made of Maple and has a Black Walnut center. The length is 11.5″ width is 3.23″ at its widest point. It’s the first one I have made si it’s a bit on the sloppy side but it’s for my own use and suits my needs.
